AP-HP, Hôpital européen Georges-Pompidou: a working hospital cleaned from its own helipad

Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris is the largest hospital group in Europe. Its Georges-Pompidou hospital in the 15th arrondissement has glazed stair towers and façades over several floors, with patients and staff inside at all times. CleanAlta cleans them by tethered drone.

In short: CleanAlta holds a contract for 8,570 m² of glazing at Hôpital européen Georges-Pompidou (AP-HP). The 24 kg tethered drone takes off from the hospital helipad under an agreement with the Paris Police Prefecture. The hospital stays fully open, and nobody works at height during spraying.

The problem

A hospital never closes. Rope technicians outside patient rooms, a gondola in front of an operating theatre window or scaffolding at an emergency entrance all have a cost beyond money. At Georges-Pompidou, the structural glass stair towers and the façades are exactly the kind of surface where every conventional method puts people at height in front of care units.

The authorisation

Flying a 24 kg drone over a hospital in central Paris requires the approval of the Paris Police Prefecture. Many operators consider it out of reach. CleanAlta prepared the operational file, the risk assessment and the flight protocol, and obtained the agreement in summer 2026, with take-off from the hospital helipad.

What CleanAlta does

The drone is tethered to a ground unit that supplies power and heated purified water. It sprays the glass at low pressure, with no detergent, and rinses it so that it dries without streaks. The pilot and two ground operators stay on the ground; the perimeter is closed with cones and tape, and the work is scheduled with the hospital so that no entrance is blocked.

Why it matters for Thailand

Thailand has large hospital groups and university hospitals with glazed towers in dense urban areas, in Bangkok and in regional cities. The AP-HP job shows two things: the method works on a site that never closes, and CleanAlta knows how to obtain the authorisations that make urban drone flights possible. For Thailand, the same preparation applies with the CAAT, the NBTC and the local authorities.

Questions about this job

Is it safe to fly a drone over a hospital?

With a tethered drone, a closed ground perimeter, a flight protocol approved by the police prefecture and a crew on the ground, yes. The drone cannot leave its tether radius, and the water is purified, with no chemicals.

Does the hospital have to close services during cleaning?

No. The work is scheduled with the hospital so that no entrance or care unit is affected. That is the main reason hospitals choose this method.

Can CleanAlta do this in a Thai hospital?

That is the aim of the pilot program. Thai hospital groups that want a documented pilot job can apply through the contact page.

Investors, property groups and corporates

We present the Thai launch plan and the figures in a direct meeting, under NDA. Building owners can also apply for a documented pilot job.
